Champagne is complimented perfectly by the dry Gin to form arguably the best Champagne cocktail. As David Wondrich puts it "Of all the many champagne-and-liquor combinations known to contemporary mixology, this one has the most elan".
1 shot of Gin
0.5 shots of Lemon Juice
0.25 shots of Sugar Syrup
Top up with Champagne
Add the first three ingredients to the mixing tin, add lots of ice, shake thoroughly, strain and top up with Champagne.
Serve in a Flute glass and garnish with a cherry.
Champagne bubbles in a French 75 cocktail.
Variation: For a Breakfast Sloe Soul 75, mix 1 shot of Sloe Gin, with half a shot of Black Raspberry Liqueur and half a shot of Lemon Juice, before topping up with Champagne. This recipe is by Soulshakers.
Fill a Flute glass with ice and water to chill it while mixing the cocktail.
Measure 0.5 shots of Lemon Juice and add to the mixing tin.
Measure 0.25 shots of Sugar Syrup and add to the mixing tin.
Add lots of ice to the mixing tin.
Shake the drink well until condensation forms on the outside of the mixing tin.
Discard the ice and water in the glass.
Strain the contents of the mixing tin into the glass.
Gently stir.
Taste the cocktail and if necessary adjust the balance with a touch of extra sugar or citrus juice.
Garnish the cocktail with a cherry.
